Motivation Monday – Get it Done

Copy of Looking back

I am a huge procrastinator and love nothing more than putting off things until the last minute instead of getting them done and dusted as soon as I think about them.  This goes for chores, phone calls, emails and any other task that I should do.

But, I have started to get things done as soon as is possible which has made a huge difference in my life.  I used to feel pretty guilty for stalling on doing things, and the task would lurk at the back of my mind so I couldn’t fully enjoy whatever I was doing in place of getting that task completed (mostly reading a book or watching something on the tv).  I’d also get stressed out when I finally got around to doing that task and end up making a rush job of it.  Since I started to get into the mindset of getting things done I have started to feel less guilt, stress and worry, and also, surprisingly, I have gained motivation for doing other tasks that I had otherwise put off.

So, today’s motivation for you is to “Get It Done”, whatever that thing maybe!

What have you been putting off?  And what have you been doing instead?  I’d love to hear about how you procrastinate in the comments!

  1. Omg I always have so much to do! Especially for school. Like it’s constant haha but that’s just the nature of being a teacher! But in other ways I do things right away – if I’m avoiding work stuff lol

      1. Haha!! Me too but thankfully I am good at prioritizing as well. During the week I won’t do much but on the weekend like Saturday morning I get as much done as most people do all weekend 😂

  2. Things have been really busy since 2020 began. I have been working 60 hours a week. I so busy with work, housework, events that I procrastinated working on my novel. It felt amazing to finally finish editing book one and get it published. But I could only do it by spending fifteen minutes here, fifteen minutes there…otherwise it would never have happened.

  3. I love this post! I try not to procrastinate, but catch myself doing it often. Lately, I’ve really been trying to fight it the best I can. My husband tries to scold me, because I just get up and start doing everything in a mad panic. I’ve figured out though, that if I don’t push myself to do those things that need to get done while I’m inspired, then I’ll just find excuses not to do then when I’m not. I have to seize the moment while it lasts I guess and do tasks in spurts! Thank you for sharing!

  4. Yeah agree with you.. I read somewhere as well which says the school of P.T.O (Putting things off) holds more people back than the school of D.I.N (Do It Now).. Thanks for the reminder..

  5. I’d love to start taking things seriously and get things done, i think my problem is that I am always staying home, I’ve been a couch potato for a while now and I’m now trying to get busy around the house and grow some skills that i have always wanted to…

    1. I’ve been like that too! Autumn and winter, when the days are short and the weather is bad I just want to curl up on the sofa but as soon as the seasons shift to warmer and lighter nights I feel more energised and wanting to do more! Good luck! I’d love to hear about what you will be learning! Stay safe! Xxxx
